Mortgage requirements have come a long way since the recession, but many consumers are still confused about what they need in order to qualify for home financing. The "How America Views Homeownership" survey by Ipsos Public Affairs revealed that 36 percent of respondents believe a 20 percent down payment is required to get a mortgage, and two-thirds of those surveyed believe you need to have a "very good credit score" to qualify. That is just not the case.
